MY SKILLS USING SOFTWARE

PRE-PRODUCTION

Due to much of my past work requiring planning I am very comfortable with pre-production skills such us storyboarding, writing, scriptwriting, and shot planning. I also have experience in previsualisation software such as Unreal Engine, using it for basic animation and interactive experiences.

PRODUCTION
I am very familiar using the Adobe Creative Suite due to experience in my university degree and aim to expand on that knowledge in my own personal time. I particularly enjoy working with Illustrator and Photoshop, the latter stemming from an early homegrown interest in logos and photo editing, despite the lack of course options in my high school. Today I have a passion for flat vector art and I am constantly finding ways to develop my skills and expand my talent. I have experience using premiere pro and after effects to develop animations, motion graphics and videos from footage or work I have created myself. Some of the techniques learned from these software transferred over to using 3DS Max and developing a 3D animation as well us some 3D modelling.

POST-PRODUCTION

As I am familiar working over a whole pipeline I have editing skills using premiere and after effects, including colour grading and other visual effects. I have experience using ProTools and Adobe Audition when editing sound for past work I have done, as well as redoing the audio on a movie clip.

2020-Present

FREELANCE

I have done a variety of freelance design work, most recently a logo for my father's business, a short motion graphic for Highland Food & Drink, and some Ad Hoc poster design for Tenpin Ltd.

2020-2020

DIGITAL MEDIA
4th YEAR Semester 2

Student

I have developed an interactive eBook aimed at children. I used an eBook builder called Kiwksher for which I was granted access to from the developer in order to complete my honours project. The eBook was then evaluated with users which revealed what worked well and what areas needed more development.

2019-2020

DIGITAL MEDIA
4th YEAR Semester 1

Student

I have completed my literature review for my honour's project. This investigated fields such as designing for children, studies into child learning/CCI, visual design for interactive ebooks for children, and a research study to gather further data. The review informed the next phase where I developed an eBook for children with an art style and interactivity that is engaging to use. I have also been working on VFX Storytelling and Scripting for Interactive Media. The former is a follow on, personal project from the VFX module last year including previsualisation using Unreal Editor. The latter includes making an immersive game using Unreal Engine, with attention to level design, interaction, sound etc.

2018-PRESENT

Illustration Self Study

I have chosen a design path with illustration with various study series in landscapes, characters, and objects due to some very positive feedback with my solar system series. I have done some studies into shading, colour and texturing.

2018

FREELANCE

Logo/Branding Designer

I met the client on Shapr. They were looking for a re-branding for their profession as a singer-songwriter. They also mentioned the possibility of album artwork.

2018-2019

DIGITAL MEDIA
3rd YEAR

Student

First semester included work with After Effects studying Motion Graphics, 3d Modelling using 3ds Max, and research and a motion graphic novel project in Digital Storytelling. During second semester I created a 3d animation featured in my portfolio, and worked on two group projects in VFX and Design Thinking.

2017-2018

DIGITAL MEDIA
2nd Year

Student
This year included 2D Animation using After Effects, Sound Design using Protools, Digital Video Development, prototyping using Axure, concept art development, and some work with Arduino.

2015-2016

VGES/CASWA

Volunteer Web Developer

I helped to update and develop an existing website for two companies, VGES, and CASWA using FileZilla. Most work included minor changes and fixes like grammatical errors. I did however implement both a Twitter and Facebook feed for VGES and added in some pages.

2016-2017

CREATIVE COMPUTING

I originally enrolled at Edinburgh Napier to study Creative Computing. I switched to Digital Media in semester two.
